The latest IBTM Global meetings industry research prepared by The Right Solution was launched at AIBTM this week. This report analyses results from 900 buyer respondents and 300 suppliers and focuses on the Americas region. The survey was closed 1st June 2012 so the results are right up to date.

The research shows that the majority of US business stays in the US (albeit widespread throughout different states). It will be interesting to monitor if and how this changes in future. Apart from the US, American buyers events are going to central and South America and established destinations in Europe (is long haul a greater risk preventing them from using NEW destinations perhaps?)
Destinations, hotels, conference centres and suppliers are having to keep up with all the latest technologies and forms of communication but have no additional marketing budget – and for the moment they need to produce traditional promo material such as brochures as well.
56% of buyers in the Americas think the volume of events will increase in the next twelve months, but only 43% think budgets will amd this drops down to 29% whop think their marketing and promotional budget will increase.
Factors that will affect the market are:
- Economic conditions
- Use of new destinations
- Political and government issues, in particular the elections in the US and the Eurozone crisis.
