The latest research with over 500 buyers and suppliers into the meetings industry in the Middle East region was launched  28th March, looking back at what took place in 2010 and forward to predictions for business in 2011.

The volume of meetings taking place in the region has significantly increased since the survey began in 2007 with average number of events per organiser now more than 6 compared to 4 in the earleir years. 71% of organisers also predict an increase in the number of events they will run in the region this year.  Clearly political stability is a major concern although safety and security are always given top priority for visitors to events. Budgets remain under pressure and negotiating rates will require skill on both sides -buyer and supplier.

Even though the region’s profile for meetings destinations is stronger than ever, suppliers indicated there is still room for greater awareness of what the region has to offer and for national tourist boards to focus and support the meetings industry more.
